Wild Beauty at the Orlando Wetlands in Christmas, Florida
If you’re looking for a walk on the wild side, head east of Orlando to the Orlando Wetlands Park in Christmas, Florida. This 1,650-acre oasis is one of Central Florida’s most scenic — and thrilling — outdoor spots.
Originally built to naturally filter reclaimed water, the wetlands have transformed into a thriving habitat teeming with wildlife. As you explore the trails and the new 2,200-foot boardwalk, you’ll be surrounded by open marshes, towering cypress trees, and an incredible array of animals.
Expect to see alligators — lots of them — basking just feet from the path. There’s nothing separating you from nature here, so it’s not for the faint of heart! You might also spot roseate spoonbills, herons, otters, turtles, and even deer roaming the area.
The park is part of the Great Florida Birding & Wildlife Trail and offers miles of walking, biking, and horseback trails. It’s a photographer’s dream and a peaceful escape for anyone who loves the outdoors.
